The Atlanta Falcons opened this season under new head coach Kevin Stefanski and were expecting newly acquired Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. Stefanski was moving into the same position with Atlanta that he held on the Browns staff for the past six seasons.
The Browns.
Think of the Cleveland Browns and “losers” would garner a lot of mention on one of those charts that shows what most people consider when something is mentioned. But would it surprise you to know that in those six seasons Stefanski led the Browns into the playoffs twice?
He did.
There were a lot of problems with the National Football League franchise in Cleveland. They made personnel mistakes like that was their goal. They ended up spending cap money on players either out of the league or with different teams. The Browns were a mess … but Stefanski was not the root cause. In fact, despite mostly losing records, Stefanski was always considered a bright head coach that got the most his teams had to offer.
That is why within a month of him being free from Cleveland he was picked up for the same role with the Falcons.
